Major New Zealand artist Judy Darragh comes to Hamilton Girls High School

Hamilton Girls High School is delighted to welcome celebrated New Zealand artist Judy Darragh to work with students on a temporary art installation.

The Horace Moore‐Jones Artist in Residence project is generously supported by Ange Paykel, granddaughter of famed WW1 war artist Horace Moore‐Jones. It is part of her more extensive arts patronage of both Hamilton Boys and Hamilton Girls High Schools, that includes a commissioned sculpture for each school, an annual art prize, and travel grants.

“I wanted to give something that would not only remember and celebrate the life of my Grandfather, but that would inspire young people to embrace art and develop a lifelong passion for the visual arts, receiving all the riches that come from leading a creative life” Ange Paykel, Patron.

As part of this years project, Judy Darragh will create a temporary collaborative art installation titled Be Stunning in the grounds of the school. The one day art event will involve over 4000 ping pong balls and all students and staff.
